Ripley blocked the dryer again so I couldn’t finish the laundry.. Open the dryer door and he always pops in there now, doesn’t matter if there are clothes in the dryer or not. Which results in his cat hair shedding into the dryer all over my clean clothes.. grrrrr.. can’t win with him

Class Reunion Time.. 30 years or was it yesterday??

So last weekend I went home, home to my 30th High School class reunion. I wasn’t sure what to expect, who I would see or what it would be like. I had left much of that time in my life in the past. I am not one to look in the past often, more likely I look towards the future.

Facebook made our reunion different. Many of us, I would say 20-30 of us reconnected on Facebook months before the reunion was held. This made the first in person meetings so different than you would expect. We had already done the “you look great” (as we had seen pictures), we already knew where each other was living and working, about kids and *gasp* grandkids. So for all of us the anxiety of those first reacquainted meet-ups were gone. Also by reacquainting ourselves with so many on facebook it really gave us more time to talk with those classmates who aren’t on facebook, or should I saw weren’t on facebook as many have joined since last weekend hehehe.

Some observations…

With the right mindset and great childhood friends, you can go home again; you can be a kid again and have no cares in the world, even for just a few days. Many of our friendships picked up right were we left them. It was very amazing to see and spend time with so many of you and the new memories we made I will carry with me closely next to all those of years ago.

We are aging well!! Yes there is some gray hairs on a few of us (ok many of us hehehe) and yes a few more pounds have crept upon all of us, but we looked GOOD!

Our High School looks the exact same but times have certainly changed it. Hardly anyone at a Friday Night football game?? The band wearing dark navy blue, Indianettes wearing Turquoise, flag girls carrying orange flags?? Please someone explain!! The school colors are Red, White and Royal Blue.. They should be wearing those colors. What has happened and why???

Staying up all night talking and laughing can still be done in your 40’s but you pay for it a bit more and for more days!

I will always be Tim’s little sister :) . Even approaching the very late 40’s several asked me that question “are you Tim’s little sister” at the mixed graduation class reunion golf tournament. I am still proud to say I am and yes I will do my best to drag him to the tournament next year!

They don’t forget…. I was very touched by old friends who asked about all three of my brothers not just Mike and Tim. It actually took me back at first when people asked about Chris as I didn’t know how they knew my son Chris, then I realized that many weren’t referring to my son but to my brother. I didn’t realize how many didn’t know that he had past almost 26 years ago. Their reactions and true caring meant a lot to me, especially after all these years. To Sue B… you gave me something I haven’t had in along time.. Happiness and smiles when missing my little brother..you told me you were his friend and you talked about him, about knowing him and hanging out with him. It was nice to meet one of his friends again, it’s been forever since someone said “I was Chris’s friend”, or “I knew your brother Chris”. You let me know he hasn’t been forgotten after all these years and I can’t tell you what that means to me and how I will always treasure you telling me that!

Overall it was an amazing weekend of laughter, hugs, tears and friendships. I haven’t laughed like we laughed that weekend in a very long time and we are lucky to have grown up so close to each other and with so many intertwining memories. I will treasure these memories for a very , very long time. I can’t wait till we do a 35th reunion!

Here are some pictures from the reunion…
