My Favorites of 2009 (January – April)

I was challenged to post my best or favorite shots of 2009, one per month for a total of 12 months. This proved to be harder than I thought it would be but here they are. They may not always be the best of the month, but they are my favorites of the month as they bring back so many memories.

January - I took this during lunch one day when I was just out and about. I LOVE Mallard ducks and to get a close up like this, just as he was exiting the water really thrilled me.

February - I was throwing together something to eat and as I reached to grab the plate I thought this set-up looked like a coke ad so I grabbed the camera and took the photo. I then post processed it to get this grungy, antique feel.

March - An unexpected day in the Magic Kingdom, just me and my camera allowed me to capture this shot. I love how this shot turned out to be more of a painting that just a picture and when I look at it, it always takes me back.

April - Took this while out for a walk. The buttercups just spoke to me, telling me Spring had arrived.

My Favorites of 2009 (May – August)

May 2009 - The Bald Eagles of Maymont. I actually am posting two for May as I just can’t decide which I like better. After posting these on my Flick’r account I was contacted by Maymont who was asking for permission to print them in a brochure. As this is a non-profit organization I agreed to let them have them.

June - Just an old barn I passed on one of the back-roads outside of Richmond. I loved that even though it is old, the cow is still using it to get out of the sun.

July - John took me out to Charlottesville to watch a 12U baseball game in which a team from Nassau was playing. This is the patch on a players jersey taken with my 70-300.

August - This is Ripley. He just sat there so still for so long, staring at who knows what that I had to take the photo.

My Favorites of 2009 (Sept – Dec)

September - This leaf actually fell and landed on the other leaf while I was walking down the path.  It was like Mother Nature was purposely laying out a shot for me so I had to take it.

October - I had to eventually get Riley in here :) .. I love that they are both so contently laying on the bed and how this shows the obvious difference in their size.

November - Our 7 days aboard the Disney Magic, this shot will always remind me of it. I think the editing is what makes this picture stand out. Perfect day, perfect sky, perfect cruise!

December - The reason I love this is that it was a turn around and look photo. It wasn’t set up, I literally turned around and saw this view. That and the fact that it was hand held and came out so crystal clear thrills me to no end.

Thanks for looking at some of my favorites, as I stated at the beginning that may not always be the best, but they do bring back the best memories which is how they become a favorite.

Here’s to 2010 and what memories we may find when we take the lens cap off. Happy New Year!
